Are we all colorblind?

Cities may be in flames, riots may be erupting, but in the past few days the most important issue has been whether the dress is Blue & Black or White & Gold. The debate can now be put to rest.

No one is right.

If you have no idea what we’re talking about, here’s the dress.

It really doesn’t matter if you see Blue & Black or White & Gold because in actuality the dress is neither.

But how is that possible?

In the whole spectrum of colors that exist, a way to measure a color is called an RGB Value. An RGB value is the amount of Red, Green and Blue that go into create any color.

To cut to the chase the dress is actually a shade of Lavender and the Black/Gold part is actually a mix of grey and brown.

So the actual RGB Values for the dress are 108-120-162, 80-65-58 and 94-75-58, pictured accordingly below.

The RGB Value for white hardly comes close to any of these, however the RGB Values for blue, black and gold aren’t as far off.

If the dress were actually Black & Blue the RGB Values would be 0-0-0 and 46-49-146.

If the dress were actually White & Gold the RGB Values would be 255-255-255 and 212-175-0.

Alas the barely day-long argument of whether the dress that is actually neither Blue & Black nor White & Gold can go to rest.
